Welcome to the Artkat website. My name is Kathy Hebert and I am an artist and art instructor living in Worcester, Massachusetts where I paint and offer art classes in drawing and painting for adults. This site displays my oil paintings and art cards which include a wide variety of subject matter.  You will find oil paintings and art cards of landscapes (including Massachusetts, Worcester, Florida, Maine and Vermont), still life and portrait art.  Many of the oil paintings are for sale and  make lovely additions to any art collection.  The art cards are little artworks all by themselves.  Your friends and family will love to receive them either as a single card or as a gift of blank note cards.

In 1984, I began an art class designed specifically for non-artists, for people who believe that they have no talent but have always wanted to learn how to draw and paint. I offer these art classes at my studio in Worcester, Massachusetts. Students must first complete the basic drawing class and then, if they choose, advance to painting classes. My students' artworks are displayed on my site in the Studio where you will also find class information, a resource list and testimonials. Art classes are on-going and you are welcomed to sign up at any time.  Private art classes are also available.

The site was designed from scratch using an array of "Dummies" books. It was one of those things that I just had to do! I've never been known as a technical person so this was one of my life altering adventures. I invite you to visit my Art Gallery where you will find oil paintings of landscapes, still life and portrait art.  Browse through my Card Shoppe and find the perfect art cards for you.   These are blank note cards which can be used as greeting or invitation cards. Make sure you check out my blog when you visit Kath's Corner. If you have any questions, just click on the Email Me at the bottom of each page. Enjoy your visit.

Testimonials

"I've been taking art classes with Kathy about 10 years, starting out in her evening drawing class for non-artists. She was so knowledgeable and encouraging that I moved on to charcoal and painting classes at her studio and have been there ever since. I learn something new from her at every class and my painting have improved immeasurably. People even ask me now if my paintings are for sale! Besides learning technique and improving all the time, I've discovered that painting is a great way of 'meditating' or stress reduction for me. That's a huge benefit for me, with my busy life, and a great value at any price. Thanks, Kathy!" - Kerry

"As a child, I had always wanted to see something of mine out for the public to see. I had hoped to be an architect. That never happened. I was approaching middle age and I had a decision to make. Buy a corvette or take an art class. I chose the art class; it was also cheaper too! Kathy was my art teacher. Her gentle encouragement and her experience as an artist helped slowly build my confidence. She can be firm but the overall outcome is to make us better artists. Also there is never a dull moment in her classes. I am glad they never tape our conversations!! I have sold my first painting which I never thought possible. Kathy encourages me to do more difficult paintings though I never sure I am ready. My hope one day is to have my own showing. I thank Kathy for being along this journey with me. I think I made the right decision...not to buy the corvette." - Peter

"My friends and family are amazed to discover an artist in their midst.  In just six months under Kathy’s guidance, I have developed from a novice who didn’t know how to hold a paintbrush or mix colors, to a student artist with a solid grounding in the basics and the confidence to paint with pleasure.  (You can always paint over it!)  Painting class is the highlight of my week, and it is always filled with laughter and gentle lessons." - Elizabeth

Dedication

I'd like to dedicate this site to my teachers: King Coffin, Mr. Foster, my 3D professor (I can't remember his name), Blair McClosky, Liza Meade Steig and Helen Van Wyk. These were the teachers that inspired me to learn. When I began to teach - my dream was to be a teacher like them.
